Teacher gives classes to poor children during the pandemic

As soon as the pandemic started, teacher Jemima Peláez decided to spend her social distancing period at her parents’ home in the Mexican city of Queretaro. Once there, she couldn’t help noticing the many children living on the streets or who had no access to computers with internet service.

Jemima decided to use her time in the city to give classes on the pavement, teaching the children to read and write. Alone at first, soon she had volunteers who were eager to help. At present, the project has fifty people, teaching in different parts of town.
